10 Wrestling Promos That Started REAL Backstage Heat

7. Ultimate Warrior And Hulk Hogan

Just a quick one this. WCW’s attempts to reignite the magic of peak-WWF Hogan vs. Warrior never quite worked, but it took a particularly weird promo from the latter to finally make the former realise it was a non-starter. I say “finally”; it was literally his debut promo.

His delivery was a bit erratic, his lines a bit nonsensical, and he rambled on for almost twice as long as the segment had been allocated, with Eric Bischoff visibly telling Warrior to wrap it up at numerous points.

Apparently, this immediately led to Hogan questioning what the hell they were trying to achieve with all this backstage, and openly criticising the decision to throw Warrior back into a main-event slot he clearly wasn’t polished enough for. Still though, that big disappearing smoke effect at the end is pretty sick.
