10 Wrestling Promos WWE Regret
3. Dean Ambrose's Smelly People
When Vince McMahon deemed a promo in which Dean Ambrose described Milwaukee as a "toxic dump" "such good sh*t", it accelerated an already inexorable shift in perception. WWE was WCW 2000 booked by a despot, and the man burdened with his juvenile sense of humour proved it conclusively in leaving.
Ambrose on November 26 received a series of inoculations to protect him from the "vermin" fans and the "stench" of their breath and their "putrid" body odour.
A god-awful hybrid of cheap heat and prop comedy, a gas-masked Ambrose was spared the pooper scooper, but he wasn't spared the sh*t.
What was more egregious - and ultimately, more damning of the system - is that this programme wasn't meant to be the sort of Vince bullsh*t fans had come to accept. This was meant to be an old-fashioned and deeply-felt blood feud, with the easiest conflict, history and dynamic to exploit. And yet, it materialised as tacked-on vintage WWE rubbish and a shockingly mid match at TLC that was totally, tonally f*ck-witted for the self-professed storytelling company.
Jon Moxley left, buried the company for this rotten creative, and weaponised the anti-WWE crowd with a scathing Talk Is Jericho promo exponentially better than anything he'd cut in seven years.
