10 Wrestling Promotions You Never Knew Existed

3. Insane Championship Wrestling

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3zVb0F-Fzw You may have heard of Scotland€™s latest and greatest export, Insane Championship Wrestling. If you haven€™t, you should quickly familiarize yourself with it, and that€™s why it€™s on this list. ICW is an ever-growing promotion in the UK -- based primarily in Scotland. This company has been picking up as of late, however, many casual fans -- especially those in the United States -- are unaware of its existence. Frankly, that€™s a bit of a shame. ICW was founded in 2006 and has slowly built a loyal following and strong reputation. However, in the past few years, the promotion has skyrocketed -- thanks in large part to its most popular star, Grado. The fun-loving, jovial, impassioned Grado has been featured in two separate documentaries -- for both VICE and the BBC. His cult following and outlandish antics have brought further attention to the popular ICW promotion. American star and former WWE talent, Colt Cabana has competed for the Scottish promotion on a number of occasions, bringing it further exposure. Cabana originally battled Grado in a number of matches, but has now formed a team with the Scottish grappler. Furthermore, ICW alumni, Drew Galloway -- former WWE superstar Drew McIntyre -- recently returned to the promotion. Insane Championship Wrestling may not be a household name, but it is one of the most exciting up-and-coming promotions in the world. Despite being based in Scotland, ICW has managed to garner fans from around the globe and will likely continue to do so.

Douglas Scarpa is a freelance writer, independent filmmaker, art school graduate, and pro wrestling aficionado -- all of which mean he is in financial ruin. He has no backup plan to speak of, yet maintains his abnormally high spirits. If he had only listened to the scorn of his childhood teachers, he wouldn't be in this situation.
