10 Wrestling Promotions You Never Knew Existed

2. Resistance Pro

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH5WWEEV0QE If fans are not familiar with the Resistance Pro company based in Chicago, Illinois, they will likely be soon. Founded in 2011 by Smashing Pumpkins frontman, Billy Corgan, the small independent promotion has put on monthly shows since November of that year. The promotion may be a relatively small affair, but it has been able to capture a loyal fanbase -- with at least 300 or so fans in attendance at each event. Furthermore, the promotion has featured a wealth of top tier talent, including El Generico, Kevin Steen, Teddy Hart, and Chicago native, Colt Cabana, among others. Harry Smith was crowned the company€™s first-ever Heavyweight Champion during their second show, Rise. The promotion has since established a strong, local crop of talent such as Mr. 450, Da Soul Touchaz, and Jay Bradley. Additionally, Resistance Pro has since become the first wrestling promotion to adhere to the Sports Legacy Institute€™s guidelines. SLI has become the leader in head trauma studies in the sporting world. Billy Corgan€™s friendship with former WWE superstar Chris Nowinski -- the founder of SLI -- led to the partnership. While many fans outside of the Chicago area may not be familiar with the rocker€™s renegade wrestling promotion, they soon will be. It was reported in March of 2014, that Corgan had come to an agreement with the AMC Network to develop, film, and air a reality television series about Resistance Pro. It€™s unclear at this time when the show will air, but the series was apparently greenlit by the network.

He has no backup plan to speak of, yet maintains his abnormally high spirits. If he had only listened to the scorn of his childhood teachers, he wouldn't be in this situation.
