6. The Brilliance Of NXT
There was a big boom in NXT when they had the likes of Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Bayley, Sasha Banks to name a few, and that was an incredible time for them. Do you think now they’re perhaps starting to get a roster almost as good as that?
"I think it’s better because it feels like there’s a changing of an era. Rollins, Kevin Owens, that guard of ROH stars are the last athletic big guys. The height limit has been discounted in wrestling now and I think it’s about character and personality. Adam Cole is Shawn Michaels II, I think he’s so good, and I love Kyle O’Reilly. His off camera stuff when he’s playing the belt as a guitar... you hate him, but he’s cool!
There does seem to be the natural feeding ground, ROH into NXT. I try and watch as much Ring of Honor as I can, because I really like it, I like how it’s no non-sense, and they’ve had that all the way through.
If NXT was able to get bigger, I don’t know why you’d want to leave? You look at what happened to The Revival! I know they’re trying to rehab them now but… they were the best! And [Chad] Gable as well, what a wrestler! How do American Alpha and The Revival go from being some of the best matches of the year to being just ‘who are they and what are they doing?’"
