7. Indy Performers Moving To WWE
WWE have got so many performers that used to be on the independent scene who are now working with them, but when they try to translate that into their form of ‘entertainment’, WWE often seem unable to rekindle that magic. Why do you think that is?
"It’s difficult because AJ/Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom was great, how they’ve managed to get that wrong... all it needed to be was ’in a few months time at WrestleMania, you’re gonna see AJ/Nakamura, and we’re not gonna touch it. They’re not gonna touch each other, we’ll keep them away and we’ll separate (them)’.
When there’s a match that you really want to see, you don’t really care how you’ve got there. It’s either because they’ve had good matches before, or because it’s two people that’s an unmatched pairing that you wouldn’t necessarily have seen before, or it’s a classic being revisited.
At the [NXT] TakeOvers, people are allowed to push the bar. At WrestleMania and the Royal Rumble, people are allowed to push the bar. But all of the other, you know, [WWE Super Show-Down] and all of that, it’s just place-holding. And they’ve got enough wrestlers to make placeholder wrestling amazing, just have the match-ups!"
