10 Wrestling Repeats That Just Didn't Work

8. 'Nature Boy' Buddy Landel

Ric Flair wasn't the first 'Nature Boy' to hit the scene. The original was Buddy Rodgers, but Flair decided he'd use the gimmick for himself. Clearly, he went on to have a lot of success, so he's not exactly applicable for a list looking at repeats that didn't end up working out.

Instead, this slot belongs to Buddy Landel.

Using the 'Nature Boy' character himself, Landel often came across like a cheap knock-off version of Ric Flair. As harsh as it sounds, by the time he entered the WWF for a brief period in 1995, Landel looked more like a parody of Flair than a genuine individual.

Landel did capture a number of titles and was a generally good worker, but his main problem lay in the fact that most watching believed Flair to be the real deal, not him.

Despite having his own bleach blonde locks and a whole host of sequined robes, Buddy Landel just looked like a tribute to Ric Flair rather than a top star in his own right.
