10 Wrestling Returns We Marked Out For

9. Chris Jericho

Randy Orton was the WWE Champion, and was about to have himself a nice little passing of the torch ceremony on Raw, complete with a man running with an actual torch. As the runner was about to enter the arena, he was rudely clotheslined out of nowhere. Chris Jericho was the culprit.

We had not seen Y2J in over two years, since he had been fired by Eric Bischoff for his failure to defeat John Cena. Before his return, though, a series of cryptic, Matrix-like vignettes aired for weeks. Right before he emerged onto the stage, a slick video aired revealing that the repeated code of “Save_US” in the videos were exactly for the man we were hoping for. That didn’t stop fans from exploding when he returned.

Jericho was in the prime of his career when he left, and we had no idea if he was ever going to come back. Raw badly need to be shaken up, and his presence gave the show some much needed star power.

While he’s returned to WWE many times throughout his career, his 2007 return remains the best.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
