Wrestling was always a tough game, and it still is today. When a modern fan watches PG era WWE, it is really easy to think that the happy-go-lucky, broadly drawn characters aren'€™t, in actuality, very tough men.

That, as it turns out, can be a costly misconception.

WWE'€™s announcers may regularly refer to Daniel Bryan as €œa goat€ but in reality, Bryan Danielson could almost certainly kick your ass.

Despite recovering from serious neck surgery at the time, the former WWE Champion successfully apprehended a burglar, helping to put a stop to a series of local robberies in the process.

Returning home with his wife, Brie Bella, the injured Bryan unknowingly interrupted the robbery. Once he realised what was going on, he chased down a fleeing man and choked him out.

"Unfortunately, he wasn't in very good shape so it didn't take much." Bryan told reporters, "Exhaustion makes cowards of us all, and he was very, very tired, and it literally took zero effort to take him down,"

Bryan and his wife gave a small press conference the following day, where he joked that his on-screen rival Triple H may have been behind the break-in. Apparently, the couple'€™s main concern was for the safety of their dog, Josie, who joined them at the conference (No, really).

"We came in, Brie went looking for Josie, I saw the guys running out the back, I chased 'em, I caught one of 'em, and kept him until the police got there,"

...And the moral of that story? Don€™t f*ck with Daniel Bryan.

One of the best things about pro wrestling is the wild stories that it generates OUTSIDE the ring. The crazy characters wrestlers meet and the wacky scenarios that occur on the road add a spicy new dimension to wrestling for all us fans.

We all love wacky wrestling road stories, so we hope you enjoyed this crazy collection...

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
