10 Wrestling Road Stories You Won't Believe
9. Stone Cold, William Regal And Mick Foley Visit A Gay Beach...
Back in 1993, WCW wrestlers Mick Foley, Steve (later William) Regal and (a not-yet Stone Cold) Steve Austin were sharing a room at an Econo Lodge in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. With a few hours to kill until the show started, they decided to head down to the local beach.
Foley went bodysurfing and disappeared out into the sea, leaving Austin and Regal to work on their tans. After a while, Foley looked back in the direction of the beach and saw that both of his friends had abandoned him. As he scanned the area, he then saw them hurrying across the street towards the Econo Lodge pool.
Perplexed, Foley finished his swim and returned to the beach. Looking around in an attempt to see what could have driven his fellow wrestlers away, Foley observed what he describes as a distinct lack of females on the beach. On closer inspection, the beach was full of barely dressed young men, many of whom were, to quote Foley, getting very close to each other.
Realizing that he was definitely on the wrong beach (and presumably also that he had arrived there accompanied by two oiled-up musclemen), Foley pegged it back to the hotel, where Regal and Austin, who had observed Foleys distress with great amusement, laughed like deranged gibbons.
