10 Wrestling Romances That Ended In Disaster

For a while it looked like Carmella and Big Cass were the WWE’s new It Couple: two newly minted stars at the beginning of two separate but significant pushes on the main roster. They even appeared as a couple on Total Divas (which totally represents wrestlers’ real lives and is absolutely not more of a work than any wrestling storyline).

Unfortunately, it appears it was a case of too much, too fast. The couple purchased a house together, despite openly voiced reservations from Carmella’s family, who were reportedly convinced that her not-at-all-seven-foot-tall boyfriend wasn't marriage material.

Then, in August 2017, the night after going over the Big Show to cement his status as up-and-coming talent, Cass tore his ACL. Reports suggest that he grew depressed during his months on the shelf, convinced that his spot, fragile as it was, had been given to someone else - and Carmella, on the road as the Money In The Bank briefcase holder, a SmackDown! Women's Championship reign in her future, didn't know what to do with him.

The relationship died a death then and there... but that wasn't the end of it. From all reports, Cass developed an attitude problem following his return, drinking heavily on the European tour and getting in hot water with the boss for failing to follow instructions on a number of occasions.

The straw that broke the camel's back was a backstage altercation between the former lovers in June 2018. Cass was released shortly afterwards.
