10 Wrestling Stables That Never Fulfilled Their Potential
5. Legacy
Legacy had all the makings to match and even surpass their predecessors Evolution. Whilst Rhodes and DiBiase might have tried to distance themselves from the Evolution tag, it wasn't difficult to see why fans felt that same energy and were hooked to the stable's... well, evolution! With Randy Orton having become a main event star as the cold, calculated Viper that stalked and systematically picked apart his rivals, he became the perfect candidate to engage in the circle of life and become Legacy's leader.
Meanwhile, the group's selective nature of only second-generation and beyond wrestlers MOSTLY worked to its advantage. Whilst Ted DiBiase Jr was still green and was a shadow of his father on the mic, even back then Cody Rhodes was a solid performer with a sharp tongue, just like Dusty. It comes as no surprise to see Rhodes as a main event star in AEW, whilst DiBiase has stepped away from the sport. Yet whilst Rhodes and DiBiase were excellent protégés, Manu and Sim Snuka simply were not. The duo, sons of Hall of Famers Afa and Jimmy Snuka respectively, were green in the ring and anonymous on the mic.
Whilst they were quickly dispatched, the damage had been done. But the final nail in the coffin came when Orton defeated his remaining protégés at WrestleMania 25. Whilst Evolution allowed Orton to capture the big gold belt and launched Batista as a SmackDown's top babyface, Rhodes and DiBiase were left looking like heelish chumps, to the fans' chagrin.
