10 Wrestling Stalker Angles

7. Mankind, Goldust And Sable

With charge "Wildman" Marc Mero slated to square off with the bizarre Goldust at SummerSlam in August 1996, Sable figured prominently into the build. Goldust, always primed to play mind games in an attempt to get a leg up on the competition before the physical battle even began, utilized his unique relationship with Mankind to his benefit. During a pre-SummerSlam bout involving Mero, Mankind stalked toward the ring, his attention squarely on the beautiful woman. He approached her at ringside and it became abundantly clear that she wanted nothing to do with him, the look of horror on her face as he inched closer and closer. Of course, it completely distracted Mero, as was the intention, and Goldust realized that Sable was very much his rival's weakness. He would mention her by name in promos leading up to the match, and the fact that Mankind was always ready and lurking in the shadows meant that Sable was never completely safe. Goldust won the match and took his sights off of Sable, bringing an end to a brief story that had the potential to be so much more had WWE's bookers been able to maintain the rivalry between Mero, Goldust and wildcard Mankind.
