10 Wrestling Stipulations WWE Never Followed Through

1. The Lockbox (WrestleMania 32)

Weeks of dialogue about that f*cking lockbox, a match that made no sense on paper or in practice and a money-drawing comeback were all really about Shane McMahon jumping off a really high thing for the first time in nearly 10 years.

It's important to start yet another entry in yet another list about that f*cking lockbox because once that specific rationale is out there, the story starts to make a modicum of sense. Not the story about that f*cking lockbox, of course, just the story of the hoops those at the top of WWE will jump through to protect those at the top of WWE.

McMahon's shock return in February moved a not inconsiderable number of additional tickets for WrestleMania 32 a few months later, justifying the significant investment in his out-of-nowhere Hell In A Cell clash with The Undertaker over control of Monday Night Raw. Shane wanted to wrestle it from Vince, so Dad sent 'The Deadman' into battle on his behalf (which Undertaker accepted for reasons never even remotely explained) as punishment for being a cheeky little sh*t.

The prodigal son lost, ensuring the box stayed locked and Vince kept hold of the red brand...until he ushered in "New Era" by letting him have a go anyway. But in case you're worried the story didn't make sense, 'Shane O Mac' jumped off a really high thing for the first time in nearly 10 years.
