10 Wrestling Stories That Blurred Reality

Originally, the 'Montreal Screwjob' was on this list for obvious reasons. That drama, depending who you believe, was 100% real though, and so it doesn't quite fit the "wrestling stories" part of the title. The events of 2010 however? They definitely qualify.

It was possible to see a lot of ill will escape Bret Hart's body when he returned to WWE and hugged Shawn Michaels on the 4 January episode of Raw. The 'Hitman' had carried around so much negativity for so many years, and it must've felt good to finally let go of his emotional baggage. Then, Vince McMahon booted him in the stones.

WWE weren't about to let drama so chronicled escape without making some more money.

Hart vs. McMahon was set for WrestleMania XXVI. It ended up being a total disaster, but it probs gave Bret some more closure on a bitter chapter from his history. The build relied on Vince maintaining that "Bret screwed Bret", and the fact the boss then let his old enemy kick lumps out him was physical catharsis for old transgressions.
