10 Wrestling Stunts Which Nearly Went Very Wrong

Baseball bats, as suggested by their name, are very much designed for thwacking said balls through the windshields of cars parked outside the diamond. 3lb, metre long poles of metal absolutely should not be used to clobber the head of a fellow person, unless the intention is to cave it in (illegal).

Sadly, nobody told Sami Callihan this before he launched into a vicious (albeit scripted) assault of Eddie Edwards with Sting's weapon of choice on the 1 March 2018 episode of Impact Wrestling. With Edwards prone beneath a ringside chair, the former and now much nastier Solomon Crowe wildly swung at it with the sports equipment - only for the bat to ricochet off and accidentally smash Edwards in the face. The victim was left with a broken orbital socket and a broken nose.

Rather than apologise for an incident which could very nearly have ended in much graver circumstances, Callihan shrewdly capitalised on the ensuing heat to further the pair's feud, telling TMZ Sports:

"People are saying we crossed the line, so from the bottom of my heart, I have to tell each and every one of you that I'm not sorry for a single thing that happened. Look at me and tell me I'm not being serious. I do not feel bad."

Edwards himself was philosophical about the 'scary' moment, but recognised the publicity it caused benefited both, describing it a few months later as "a perfect storm of incidents and accidents."

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
