10 Wrestling Tag Teams That Were Never Going To Work

6. Deuce ‘N Domino

Deuce ‘n Domino did work, in that they became tag team champions for a few months. But that was more a testament to the division itself than the gimmick. In another, much more important way, they didn’t work at all because they were playing a terrible gimmick that was never really over.

The two burst on the scene, along with their manager Cherry, in 2007 acting like a couple of ‘50s greasers. It was an act that was only dated by 50 years. They came to the ring to Doo Wop music, and were billed as from “the other side of the tracks.” Grandpas around the world thought this was a horribly dated act and wondered if Vince McMahon was serious.

It was never really clear what they were going for. Upon their debut the announcers informed us that Deuce, Domino, and Cherry liked Elvis Presley and James Dean...so they just decided to make that their entire lifestyle? How was that enough to be a full-time act that could last years?

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
