10 Wrestling Tag Teams That Were Never Going To Work

5. The Highlanders

The Bushwhackers were a popular tag team in the WWF in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. They were two goofballs who did a bunch of wacky things that kids loved. If they debuted in 2016, they would last two weeks before the Internet would lose their collective minds over how stupid they were. In 2006, WWE gave a bit of an updated version of The Whackers, and it didn't work out so well then either.

Robbie McAllister and Rory McAllister were Scotland natives but were basically a less gross version of Luke and Butch (who were from New Zealand) and also less charismatic. They were two simpletons who were overwhelmed by “the big city”, as they somehow had never been to one before. Instead of just coming in as a couple of brawlers, or perhaps talented wrestlers, they were given kilts and made to play stereotypical characters. Twenty years earlier it may have worked, but it was embarrassingly outdated in 2006.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
