10 Wrestling 'Truths' We’ll Never Get An Answer To

8. Would CM Punk Have Ever Headlined WrestleMania?

Despite shocking everyone by returning to the WWE sphere as a Backstage host last year, it remains unlikely that CM Punk will ever wrestle in a McMahon ring again. The guy doesn't need to, and he's the kind of dude who's smart enough to realise how much of a colossal letdown it'd be if he didn't live up to expectations.

"Didn't live up to expectations" would sum up his first run, at least to Punk.

Punk became the longest reigning World Champion of his generation, but that wasn't his Holy Grail. No, the former ROH and internet darling coveted a main event berth at WrestleMania, and it drove him daft that WWE wouldn't make it happen. Learning his fate for 'Mania XXX, apparently, was the final straw before he left in 2014.

Had Punk stuck around, there's a slight chance WWE would've reconsidered and put him in a headline position eventually. He'd have been an excellent opponent for the likes of Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar or Daniel Bryan (to name a few), and might've been granted his ultimate wish eventually.
