Given how outspoken he has been throughout his entire career, it's not surprising that Punk has waged a war of words with his fellow professionals on social media. The Straight-Edge Superstar incurred the wrath of Kurt Angle in August 2012 when Punk had the temerity to liken TNA to an indy league. It's an assertion that many fans have made over the years but Punk's comments carry considerably more weight. Angle and Punk had a brief altercation in February 2011 after Angle had tweeted his displeasure at Randy Orton, Jack Swagger and Michael Cole using his signature moves, before tweeting that his account had been 'hacked'. Known teetotaller Punk tweeted my twitter account was hacked, is the new: Im a sloppy drunk douche. The Olympic gold medalist replied to Punk's TNA/indy comment via a number of tweets:
Punk wants to Say Tna Is An Indy League? I Was On top in Wwe when You Were trying to Get a Job Anywhere. It Was My Choice to go to Tna. ... If I ever See You Punk, Hide B**ch! Who Wants to See Angle vs. Punk? It would Last 30 Secs. Lol. Just Kidding. Im not Mad anymore. Punk, Ur Safe Now Put It to Rest. Angle vs. Punk will Happen. Tna or Wwe. I Hope Tna. Well See. U tough Punk? If Tna is an Indy Company, then Why Do I Make More $ than Punk Does in Wwe? Im just Saying.
Angle later claimed that his comments had been taking out of context and that he was 'joking'. Joking or not, Angle did reignite the feud in February 2013 after Punk called the Pope a 'nazi', tweeting that:
Cm Punk Should thank GOD that the Pope is a forgiving Man. Because Even the Pope Could Whip Punk's skinny a**
With Punk being on the Twitter warpath recently and Angle having a history of not thinking before he tweets this one could very easily resume in the near future.
