10 WWE & AEW Gimmicks That Belong In A Different Era
7. The Viking Raiders
Don't the Viking Raiders just scream New Generation?
As War Machine on the indies, Harper and Rowe felt as relevant to the current world of wrestling as any other team. They were legitimate powerhouses who moved like cruiserweights and it wasn't a surprise when WWE came calling.
However, as soon as the creative team realised that these guys appreciate Viking culture, that was it for them. Gone was the intimidating team that ran roughshod over the world and dominated NXT and instead, we got the Viking Experience.
The very memory of that main roster debut is enough to make you puke in your mouth.
Gone was any sense of intimidation driven by their awesome aesthetic and they soon become comedy foil for the Street Profits and have never recovered.
Thrown them into the mix thirty years ago and they would rule the division. Their sheer size would make them perfect for the era and combined with their incredible agility, they could have had the ultimate legacy feud with the likes of Legion of Doom.
Alas - that is confined to video game fantasy matchups and for now, we can mourn what the Viking Raiders should have been as we see what they have become.
