10 WWE & AEW Gimmicks That Belong In A Different Era

5. Dirty Dawgs

It might be one of the oldest takes in recent wrestling circles, but Dolph Ziggler really should have had more time at the top. When he broke onto the scene, he was one step ahead of most with his ring work and could carry a promo. Bobby Roode is another one who deserved an awful lot more than the WWE have given him.

As the Dirty Dawgs, they have carved out a nice role as a solid, entertaining tag team that always gives a good match but in today's world, that really isn't enough.

These two, with this gimmick, would have dominated the Ruthless Aggression Era.

Whether as single stars or as their current tag team, both of these men would have been seen as elite, main event wrestlers and during a time when the WWE came crashing out of the Attitude Era with main events like Undertaker vs Hogan in 2002, these two would have been a big deal.

With the Dudleyz leaving and the Hardy's and E&C disbanded, they could have dominated the tag division for the entire era, building Hall of Fame worthy careers as one of the most beloved tandems of the era.

Now, they are rolled out as solid and dependable hands.

Tis a shame.
