10 WWE & AEW Gimmicks That Belong In A Different Era
2. Cesaro
Writing this entry is heartbreaking.
In a fair and just world, Cesaro would be a multi-time WWE Heavyweight Champion, with a raft of other accolades that result in a Hall of Fame worthy career. Handsome, naturally charismatic, stronger than most and most importantly, phenomenal in the ring, he has the tools to be the best wrestler in the company.
Apart from one. Cesaro isn't great on the mic.
That's okay, considering the man is from Switzerland and although competent enough, WWE have never gotten behind him in a sustained way due to promo game. His gimmick is that of a super wrestler who can have a great match, and to WWE creative, that just isn't enough.
If you could take Cesaro and drop him into the Ruthless Aggression Era, he would have been a sure fire main event star. Seeing him mix it up with the likes of peak Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels etc. would have produced absolute magic in the ring.
Considering the likes of JBL and The Great Khali held the World Heavyweight Championship during this period, there is no way that Cesaro wouldn't have at least had a few runs with the top title.
It's enough to make you boot up WWE 2k21 and start playing those dream matches. (But don't - that game sucks!)
