10 WWE & AEW Wrestlers Hurt The Most By The Empty Arena Era
4. Drew McIntyre
WWE have had a babyface problem for a while.
It seems that babyfaces across both brands come across as either dumb or just plain goofy. Fans were thrilled when Drew McIntyre won the Royal Rumble in 2020 and were even more elated to see him dethrone Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.
Sadly, Drew never got his crowning moment in front of fans. Instead, he defeated The Beast Incarnate in the Performance Centre. After claiming the belt, Drew went on to have a few incredible matches against the likes of Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler. While the matches were good, the storytelling was not.
McIntyre then became locked in an eternal feud with Randy Orton which really hindered his momentum. The matches were plodding and never got to show what Drew could do as champion. In between all of this, Drew was given awful, scripted promos to deliver that didn't help him get over in the slightest.
In an alternate timeline, Drew McIntyre would have been one of the best WWE Champions in the past 10 years. Unfortunately, he was hampered by poor booking and bad presentation in the Empty Arena Era.
