10 WWE & AEW Wrestlers Who Have Benefitted From The Empty Arena Era
1. Britt Baker
Not so long ago, the commonly held conception was that AEW lacked a women’s division. No one’s saying that now, in large part due to the efforts of the division’s first signing - and newly-crowned AEW Women's Champion - Britt Baker.
A heel turn in early 2020 has paid dividends for Baker, who lost a few months to injury but has been on a non-stop tear ever since coming back. Most notable has been her fantastic feud with Thunder Rosa. They tore it up at Beach Break, but saved their best work for a March episode of Dynamite. Their unsanctioned match took AEW’s women’s division to new levels of brutality, and the image of a bloodied Baker became instantly iconic.
It was a matter of if, not when, the Role Model climbed to the top of the mountain, and at Double or Nothing she took the division’s top prize from Hikaru Shida, ushering in the Britt Baker Era. And all while holding down a successful dentistry practise - inspirational stuff!
The reception Baker received for her huge win was unsurprisingly rapturous; the culination of a year’s character building done to perfection.
