10 WWE Angles That Backfired Spectacularly

8. Brawl For All

The Brawl For All Tournament was pretty much an embarrassment for all involved. Even Bart Gunn, the eventual winner, was knocked out by Butterbean at WrestleMania XV for his troubles.

Of course, most observers have subsequently noted that this wasn't the angle's intended ending. Rather than Gunn, it was supposed to be one of the industry's known tough-men, Steve Williams, who emerged with victory, setting up a potential mega-push somewhere down the line opposite Steve Austin.

The problem - one which they apparently didn't see coming - was that having wrestlers fight for real is inherently dangerous. Williams, along with a number of others, got injured in the early rounds, leading to his withdrawal from the competition.

For that, plus the fact that the man left standing at the end of it all was a boxer who had no long-term future in WWE, Brawl For All has to be considered a spectacular failure.
