10 WWE Angles To Retire John Cena

6. The Martyr

John Cena waves goodbye

Even the superhero of the WWE has his limits, and exposing them is a way to establish a new monstrous villain as a truly unstoppable force. When a dark star rises in the WWE and threatens to run riot over everything in his path, John Cena is among the would-be heroes standing in his way. The monster must be stopped and his wave of destruction ended, so Cena appoints himself as the one to do it.

And he is destroyed. Utterly crushed. So completely devastated he can never come back from the magnitude of his defeat. He is left bloody and insensible with the monster standing over him.

A resurgent, under-contract Lesnar might be an option, but a new, exciting monster heel is the most fitting for such an idea, a new villain who makes a sudden assault on the WWE.

Cena vanishes from the ring to emerge a while later as a non-wrestler. In the meantime the monster's presence is magnified by the fact he didn't just defeat Super Cena - he drove him out of the ring entirely.
