10 WWE Angles To Retire John Cena
4. The Cash-In
One of Cena's most memorable storylines involved his winning of the Money in the Bank briefcase in 2012. He gave prior warning of his cash-in to incumbent champion CM Punk and lost the title match at Raw 1000, becoming the first briefcase holder to fail to cash in his title shot successfully.
For a last hurrah, Cena wins the briefcase again, or some other gimmick match that gives him a title shot at a time of his choosing. He sits on his title shot until a suitably exalted champion holds the title, then again announces it ahead of time. Cena has to know if he's still got it. He has to know if he's still the best. He's been here before, and he wants to pass one of the only challenges he's ever failed.
Cena has his match, and he loses. With proof that he is no longer the force of nature he once was, Cena walks off into the sunset of a Legends deal.
