10 WWE Attitude Era Dream Matches We Never Got To See
8. Kurt Angle Vs Ken Shamrock
Before making his televised debut at Survivor Series 1999, our 'American Hero' tussled with the likes of Matt Hardy, Hardcore Holly and Owen Hart in numerous dark matches. There was one man, however, that the Olympic Gold Medalist missed, due to inopportune and unfortunate timing: the 'World's Most Dangerous Man'.
Angle and Shamrock share similar accolades inside and outside the squared circle. Both men first achieved critical acclaim as legitimate grapplers in Freestyle Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts, respectively. Each have won the King of the Ring tournament, Intercontinental and Tag Team Championships and have been inducted into the IMPACT Hall of Fame. They also favoured the Ankle Lock as a finishing move.
When the subject of this dream encounter cropped up in an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Ken commented: “That’s a dream match for me, it really is. I respect Kurt. If you know Kurt’s history, that guy was a stud mentally and physically. He was just one of those kinds of guys that I could get behind. Having a match with him would really be an honor."
There could only be one stipulation that would be fitting for such a contest: Ultimate Submission.
