'The Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment' Vs. 'The Showstopper' never went down in the Attitude Era or thereafter. The iconic characters would have rocked the wrestling landscape, had it not been for sh*t hitting the fan (or, rather, Dwayne's food) and years of backstage politicking.

Numerous Superstars have shared their takes on the beef between the 'Brahma Bull' and 'The Heart Break Kid'.

Bret Hart commented on his 'Confessions of a Hitman' podcast, that both Michaels and Triple H were both "out to get (The Rock)", with petty jealously playing a factor. On one occasion, the 'Hitman' recalled Shawn lambasting the then-rookie for performing a top rope dropkick, which was apparently a signature manoeuvre of his at the time.

Rocky's fellow Nation of Domination stable member Mark Henry also heavily implied on 'Talk is Jericho' that members of The Kliq were "putting crap in people’s food boxes. Real sh*t. (It happened) to Dwayne. I saw it happen and people were like, "Shh, don’t tell, come on the rib is on him." "No, you crazy?" You putting sh*t in somebody’s food." Ask [The Rock] about it. He’ll tell you.”

Jericho himself noted that the heat between the two stretched back even further. "I think Shawn might have insulted The Rock when he was a kid in Hawaii or something, The Rock’s got a long memory." The "something" potentially being the alleged, derogatory remarks made by Michaels towards Johnson's grandmother and promoter, Lia Maivia.
