10 WWE Authority Figures Who Weren’t Actually All Bad
6. William Regal (NXT)
An unflappable and affable boss on wrestling's hottest brand, William Regal mixes his innate sense of comic timing with bucketloads of heart, presenting himself as a fair and decent enforcer in the vein of a Foley/Tunney hybrid.
Gone are his days of being an absolute rotter running Raw, bullying Hornswoggle and literally shutting the show down when the mood struck. Regal does plenty of scouting and work at the Performance Centre, so it's no shock to see the very real pride on his face when he addresses the crowd discussing the latest young star to break through, or hottest free agent from the independent scene primed to set NXT on fire.
Success of the brand and talent alike is Regal's main aim, and though some heels have found themselves at odds with the Blackpool native, his steady hand has overseen WWE's greatest success story of the decade, with bonafide superstars now regularly being called up to the main shows and giving Jim Ross' fabled 96-05 Talent Relations stint a run for it's money.
Finally, though it only ever looks a passing fancy, we're all quietly hoping he's got one last Regal stretch in him. Samoa Joe in particular hasn't half made his life rough lately. Maybe one of these days the Brass Knuckles will be getting tucked into his suit trousers just in case.
