10 WWE Backstage Friendships That Paid Off For Huge Career Pushes
2. Brock Lesnar And The Undertaker
As we know, the man responsible for the most shocking victory in WWE history is Brock Lesnar. His win against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX caught everyone by surprise - but his friendship with Taker was so close that the loss was supposed to happen three years earlier. Taker and Brock were incredibly close backstage on the occasions they were both active in the WWE, and Taker had handpicked Lesnar to be the man to beat him at WrestleMania 27. However, UFC president Dana White didn't want Lesnar wrestling with WWE whilst he was active in UFC, so the dream match never took place. We did get that legendary staredown at a UFC event though, whilst Taker was being interviewed after one of Lesnar's fights. They effectively did the promo work themselves that night, and it left every single wrestling fan demanding for the match to happen. By the time Taker had reached 21-0 though, nobody saw the end of that iconic streak ending. And if Taker was willing to take the hit and lose his legendary WrestleMania record, it tells you all you need to know about his friendship with Brock Lesnar.
