10 WWE Backstage Friendships That Paid Off For Huge Career Pushes

1. Triple H And Stephanie McMahon

If we're examining relationships that have had a major impact on the careers of professional wrestlers, there can't be a bigger example than that of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. As we touched on earlier, Triple H arrived in the WWE and started out by carrying Shawn Michaels' bags, as well as lumbering a terrible "blue blood" gimmick around, too. Things changed when he got close to Stephanie McMahon though, and he's now assumed a massive position of power that will ultimately see him become owner of the WWE. Not bad for a guy who couldn't get a push with WCW in the mid-1990s. The storyline marriage between the two quickly developed into a real one in 2003, and it thrust him into a position of considerable power with the company. A ridiculous amount of world title victories have followed since their marriage, and a huge level of responsibility has also come with it, too. When the time comes for Vince McMahon to step aside and let his successors take charge of the WWE, Triple H's allegiance (for want of a better phrase) with Stephanie McMahon at the turn of the century will see him in a position he probably never imagined he would be all those years ago.
