10 WWE Bait And Switches Which Actually Worked
8. Dean Ambrose Is Ejected From The Arena (Battleground 2014)
Following Seth Rollins' shocking decision to turn his back on The Shield in 2014, Dean Ambrose set his sights on the treacherous 'Architect' and this broke out into a series of stellar matches in what was a fairly barren spell for WWE at the time.
After they'd attacked each other for weeks on end and Rollins had become Mr. Money in the Bank (thanks to some Authority assistance) the pair were finally set to go to war at Battleground.
That was until Ambrose attacked Rollins backstage and was then ejected from the arena, thus leaving Rollins to be awarded the victory due to Ambrose's forfeit.
He would return later in the night to attack Rollins in the parking lot, but fans in the arena were left devastated at not getting the chance to see the pair square off.
Ambrose himself admitted after the event that "(the fans) weren’t all that vocal, and they didn’t really realize how much they wanted to see it, but when they realized they weren’t going to get it, the whole place started chanting: ‘Let them fight'."
This bait and switch clearly helped make the WWE Universe invest more in the feud and because of that the company were able to further stretch out the programme, giving us some truly excellent battles between the two down the road.
