10 WWE Booking Gimmicks And Characters Other Companies Are Doing Better
6. Mega Powerhouses Of The Women's Division
WWE had plenty of chances to get the mega-swole female powerhouse character right in 2021.
Nia Jax should've been a runaway success but was marred with an unsafe reputation after years of botches and causing injuries to her fellow competitors, coinciding with drab storylines beside tag partner Shayna Baszler. Doudrop has been a sad, mis-booked failure since her main roster debut in June alongside Eva Marie, and meanwhile in NXT, the bubble burst for Raquel González almost immediately after capturing the NXT Women's Championship from Io Shirai, resulting in an underwhelming Championship reign. Franky Monet was barely given a chance to show off her power game, before her release in November.
Elsewhere, Impact seems to be curating their Knockouts division around bar-belles, with Knockouts Triple Crown winner Jordynne Grace having an impeccable run right now and leading a line-up that also includes tag partner Rachael Ellering, former-Champion Havok, and newcomer Lady Frost.
AEW are sculpting the ever-improving talent of Jade Cargill and recently signed prolific workhorse Mercedes Martinez to a division that also has Nyla Rose and Jamie Hayter, whilst the Canadian indie scene has had to contend with multiple-time Women's Champion LuFisto flexing her way through the country, including clashes against Jordynne Grace and NCW Champion, Beast King FTM.
