Enter Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler, like many of his fellow superstars, would claim to be disgusted that Rusev is holding the U.S. Championship. Much like the reactions of the ECW Superstars when Vince McMahon won the ECW World title in 2007, WWE Superstars would express their revulsion that Rusev, the man who despises America, is now carrying the U.S. Championship. The main goal of these videos would be to anger the Superstars themselves, who would from time to time attack Rusev backstage, only for him to beat them down. This would keep Rusev looking stronger than much of the roster, and present him as one of the top heels in the company. By that point, many other stars would begin to fear the Russian as a truly unstoppable force. Ziggler, however, would be undaunted, and challenge Rusev to a match anyway. Their frequent encounters would be often violent. Rusev wouldnt back down out of the ring like he did recently in a confrontation with the Big Show, but would instead fight Ziggler anytime, anywhere. At the same time, there would be frequent occurrences where Ziggler and Rusev interrupt each others matches when not directly facing one another. This could lead to the Authority imposing a non-violence contract, forbidding either one from attacking each other until a scheduled PPV match. However, Rusev would ignore it, because he doesnt compromise. At Tables, Ladders, and Chairs (TLC) in December, Rusev and Ziggler would face off for the first time. It would be a competitive match, but Rusev would nevertheless come out the winner. This wouldnt be a fair fight, though. Ziggler would close to winning, and Lana would interfere on her clients behalf, causing the distraction, allowing Rusev to gain the advantage and win. But of course, this would not be the last time these two faced off against each other.
