10 WWE Booking Steps To Make Kevin Owens The Top Guy

4. He Wins The Money In The Bank Briefcase And Cashes In For WrestleMania 33

When Money in the Bank returns this July, KO will surely be a prime candidate to not only enter the MITB ladder match, but he'll be a top contender to actually win the match itself. There have been a number of creative scenarios employed to action the various World title switches over the years, and Seth Rollins' cash-in during the Wrestlemania main event last year surely tops the lot as the most memorable. But nobody has ever cashed in their title in the months before Wrestlemania to secure themselves a spot in the main event of the show. There have been two instances in the past where MITB winners have proclaimed that they'll make their cash-in on the grandest stage; Mr. Kennedy and Daniel Bryan have both previously proclaimed that they would be cashing in their title shots at the event, but never actually followed up on their promise (Kennedy got injured and dropped the briefcase to Edge, while Daniel Bryan cashed in a few months early to set up a slow heel turn). For Owens to make such a claim wouldn't be totally unique, but to actually follow up on his promise would still be a huge deal. Depending on how quickly he makes the claim, it means that before he's even had his title shot, the WWE title picture almost totally revolves around him for the next several months. That's a sure-fire way to keep him as WWE's most interesting heel on the books. And then when the big show finally rolls around, ideally he'd win said match to complete the months and months of build-up with a triumphant Wrestlemania moment.
