8. John Bradshaw Layfield (June 2004 - April 2005)
First off, I like John Layfield. I think he is a gifted brawler and a very entertaining heel as well as possibly the best color commentator since Bobby Heenan. What John Layfield is not so good at though...is wrestling. In fact he is actually pretty terrible when it comes to assembling a match and absolutely useless if required to work a match longer than 20 minutes. Which is all well and good as long as your role within WWE doesn't require you to work long matches of very high quality which unfortunately is a staple of the WWE champions role. However, as stated earlier, if WWE want you to succeed, if you are their pick, they will keep going with you despite all evidence telling them they shouldn't. Now Bradshaw was very good at selling a feud, talking people into the building and getting people to hate him which are all major skills the champion requires. The only problem was, once you get them into the building they expect you to be able to produce a great match and it was at this Layfield consistently failed even when given workhorses like Eddie Guerrero, Booker T and Rey Mysterio to work alongside, he still couldn't produce. It is for this reason that Bradshaw remains an undeserving world champion
