10 WWE Champions Who Deserved Longer Runs
2. Gail Kim
Of all the baffling decisions WWE made with their women’s division in the early ‘00s (and beyond), their treatment of Gail Kim still seems the most bizarre. She came to WWE in 2002 following a solid run in the indies and quickly proved her credentials, winning the title a month after debuting.
This was as good as things got, and Kim was swiftly let go in a cost cutting measure. She migrated to TNA, where she set the world on fire, putting on great matches with Awesome Kong and going a long way to redefining women’s wrestling, which was in a dark age over at WWE.
Vince couldn’t resist snapping her back up in 2008, where she once again did precisely nothing. Upon her release she returned to TNA and embarked on a second run every bit as good as her first, complete with lengthy title runs and excellent matches.
WWE had an enormously talented superstar on their hands in Gail Kim and completely squandered her talents not once but twice. You can’t say they’re not consistent.
