10 WWE Champions Who Deserved Longer Runs
1. Eddie Guerrero
Nowadays, Eddie Guerrero is unquestionably one of the best ever to do it. His untimely death in 2005 left the wrestling world shaken, and perhaps thinking that we had taken Latino Heat for granted while he was still with us. His sole WWE championship run speaks to this: in that company, and WCW before it, he was a headline act before he was ever given a chance to shine in the main event.
His win at 2004’s No Way Out will forever be one of the ultimate wrestling feelgood moments, and he had some good times as champ, not least his excellent match with Kurt Angle at WrestleMania XX.
The belt was taken off him before too long (his reign wasn’t short, but Lesnar, JBL, and Cena at either side of him were champ for far longer) - the theory was the pressure was getting to him - and he passed away before he had the chance to regain it.
As a bonafide megastar, no doubt WWE intended on giving Guerrero another run with the gold. The fact he never got to strut his stuff as champ again is just another sad element of this terrible tale.
