During WWE vs WCW's infamous invasion story line, Chris Jericho was a very influential player, as he became WWE's first-ever Undisputed Champion when he defeated both The Rock and Steve Austin in the same night.

On December 9th, 2001, Chris Jericho won his first WWE World Title when he unified both the WWE and WCW Championships at the Vengeance PPV. Jericho would hold the title until WrestleMania 18, at which he lost the gold to Royal Rumble winner Triple H.

Despite Chris Jericho earning the honor of becoming the first-ever Undisputed Champion in WWE, he revealed during a 2018 interview with Inside The Ropes that he felt his Title reign was "terrible".

“I was the first Undisputed Champion but that was the end of the line," admitted Jericho. "It took me seven years to win the title back again, and that run with the Undisputed Championship -- to win it was great but the whole run with it was terrible for me, in my opinion. The angles were the shits. I was the champion but I’d be fourth on the show."

Jericho went on to reveal that many of the ideas he pitched for angles during his time as Undisputed Champion were not used, and that Triple H reject numerous ideas Jericho thought would work well for their feud, leading to immense frustration from Y2J.
