10 WWE Champions Who Never Lost Their Titles
6. CM Punk
It's fair to say that WWE and Phillip Brooks have always had quite the strained relationship.
This made it all the more stranger that he not only won the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania XXIV, but then successfully cashed in the contract on Edge to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. It became immediately clear however that WWE regretted their decision, as Punk was booked to look weak against Batista, and his title defense against JBL was a middle-of-the-card attraction at SummerSlam.
By the time Unforgiven rolled around in September, WWE had decided enough was enough.
Rather than have Punk competitively lose the title though, Randy Orton punted him in the head before the match and the title was anticlimactically forfeited for him by default.
Fast-forward three years and what appeared to be the second 'Summer of Punk' was in full swing. Punk had pipebomb'd his way into one of the most memorable occasions in WWE history; defeating John Cena in his hometown, Punk then walked out with the WWE Championship.
WWE would go on to crown both Rey Mysterio and John Cena the new WWE champions before Punk returned to stake his claim.
