10 WWE Champions Who Never Lost Their Titles
5. Finn Bálor
Many thought 190 lb Finn Bálor would struggle to maintain the main event status had had achieved as NXT champion, when he arrived on the main Raw roster in July of 2016.
However, an Irishman always has a fighting chance in the House of McMahon.
Immediately injected into a headline spot, Bálor bested Roman Reigns on his first night on Raw to win the right to compete for the inaugural WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam opposite Seth Rollins.
Unfortunately, the duo's attempt to create a bout to match the history of the occasion resulted in an over-eager buckle bomb to the barrier, which tore a labium in Bálor's shoulder.
While he celebrated his victory, Bálor must known it would be short-lived.
The next night on Raw, Bálor lamentably relinquished the title he had won only 24 hours before and disappeared from WWE TV for eight months, returning fully healed in April 2017.
The Universal title has yet to recover. Neither has Bálor as a main event prospect.
