10 WWE Champions You Didn't Care Enough To Hate

10. Sycho Sid (February - March 1997)

When Ultimate Warrior left the WWF in July of 1996, Sycho Sid stepped in to save the day for the babyface side of the roster and was a pretty popular character among WWF fans that year. He went on to lift the WWF Title at Survivor Series before dropping it back to Shawn Michaels in HBK€™s hometown in Texas at the 1997 Royal Rumble.

When Shawn injured his knee (or so they say), all WrestleMania 13 plans changed and Sid ended up winning the belt from Bret Hart on RAW the month before the big show. After taking advantage of Steve Austin€™s attack on The Hitman, Sid was firmly positioned as the villain going into his WrestleMania title showdown with The Undertaker.

The problem was, fans were invested in the Steve Austin and Bret Hart rivalry and the sudden heel turn of Sycho Sid for seemingly no reason didn€™t really make sense as there was no character motivation for it.

This translated into a poor build for the title match. The Undertaker defeated Sid at 'Mania to little fanfare and in the months following, Sid€™s inexplicable heel turn caused his character to get staler and staler and he€™d leave the company that summer. He was clearly going nowhere, anyway.
