10 WWE Champions You Never Thought You'd See

4. Jinder Mahal

Jinder Mahal's WWE Championship was often compared to that of JBL's. Like Bradshaw, Mahal was on the undercard as basically an enhancement talent until suddenly, within two months, he won the company's biggest title. While Layfield's quick transition was justified by just how over he was as a heel, the rise of Jinder was attributed solely to WWE's investments in India.

Even worse, The Modern Day Maharaja was considered a joke from the day he challenged for the belt until he lost it. His Champion vs. Champion match against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series was infamously cancelled a week in advance. For one, Paul Heyman and Lesnar spent the whole build berating Jinder as a stepping stone. Two, nobody could buy Jinder beating anyone, yet alone a former UFC Champion.

Looking back on it in retrospect, the Jinder Mahal experiment failed horribly - especially considering that Mahal is now right back in the undercard where he started.
