10 WWE Champions You Never Thought You'd See

2. Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy was beloved by the fans practically ever since the Hardys rose to prominence in the late '90s. Much like company poster boy John Cena, women loved him and kids adored him just as much. A combination like that should ensure an easy rise to the top, but it was anything but.

It wasn't for lack of trying either. WWE tried their best to push The Rainbow Haired Warrior to the moon, even letting The Undertaker put him over in 2002. Sadly, with every climb towards the mountain, Jeff would knock himself back down while battling a drug problem. It got so bad in 2002 that it led to his release from the company. A similar situation would happen in 2008 as well. Just as WWE were preparing to strap the belt on him, Hardy got himself suspended right before WrestleMania XXIV after failing another drug test.

With all of these setbacks and Jeff's personal demons, it seemed as though he'd never ascend WWE's throne. Lo and behold, he proved us all wrong, and The Charismatic Enigma finally bagged the big one at Armageddon 2008.
