4. Kane (The Undertaker)

This list could easily have been made up of 'Taker foes created solely to take him down. Joining Mankind and The Executioner were the likes of Giant Gonzales and the 'Fake' Undertaker before them, but nobody needs to be steered towards his matches against those goons at 'Mania IX or SummerSlams '93 and '94.

Instead, here's something much more positive.

Kane has become part of WWE's furniture over the years. He's a cherished character, albeit one who was only supposed to see out a feud with his kayfabe brother before disappearing. Rather than fizzling out post-WrestleMania XIV though, the same guy who had suffered through Isaac Yankem D.D.S and "Diesel" became a legend in his own right.

Jim Cornette, Jim Ross and others have admitted on podcasts that Kane was concocted for a one-and-done feud with 'Taker. Everybody was left surprised by how well fans received the character, and by how great the guy under the mask was at playing it.
