It’s likely we’ll see Jack Gallagher challenge for the Cruiserweight Title again at some point. Whether that’ll be before, after, or during WrestleMania is another matter entirely, but his hard-hitting match against Neville at Fastlane was one of the highlights of the night, and Gallagher proved his worth as a title contender.

But with a month left to go until WrestleMania 33, Neville is currently without an opponent. While it’s likely WWE will just throw a bunch of Cruiserweights into a purple ladder match (an uninspired, albeit not terrible idea), it would benefit the division greatly to showcase their skills in a match with some more narrative weight.

Austin Aries is being hyped to make his main roster debut soon, and his pedigree as a cruiserweight competitor will likely see him slot into the title picture soon. As somebody who works primarily as a heel, and who has been introduced to the WWE Universe as the Cruiserweight division’s heel announcer, it would seem strange for him to debut as a babyface against Neville. With that in mind, a triple threat contest at WrestleMania seems like the optimal solution; a three way between babyface Gallagher, heel Neville and tweener Aries. All three men practice very different in-ring styles, Neville and Gallagher’s feud still seems like it could be explored further, and both men have reason to dislike Aries, who regularly belittles the rest of the division in interviews and on-air segments.

Between RAW and 205 Live, Aries should be able to make a big impact within the Cruiserweight division, and by having The Greatest Man That Ever Lived in the title picture come Mania, the purple belt will feel more prestigious than it currently does.
