10 WWE Directions Following Fastlane 2017
7. Rollins Sends A Message
Seth Rollins is currently out of action with a knee injury, and it is unclear as to whether he’ll make it back in time for WrestleMania. With this in mind, Samoa Joe now has no opponent for April 2nd, having already best Sami Zayn in decisive fashion at Fastlane.
The development of this angle depends heavily on recovery time, but for argument’s sake, let’s say that Rollins does make it to Mania (the fact that WWE is still pushing his story suggests he may well do). Triple H, and by proxy, Stephanie McMahon, has ordered Rollins not to appear a Mania, therefore there’s no chance of a match being booked between Rollins and Joe. Joe, however, wants to appear at Mania, and wants somebody he can crush in front of a large audience. Steph suggests a battle royal involving jobbers and undercard talent, the winner of which will face off against Joe at WrestleMania. She orders Mick Foley to organise it.
After besting ten men, the last person standing is a masked figure. He removes his disguise to reveal his true identity. It’s Seth Rollins, who has been secretly included in the match by a defiant Mick Foley. The masked reveal gimmick might be a little overdone, but it sets up a Joe vs Rollins match for Mania, and one that’s in-keeping with WWE’s bizarre logic.
