10 WWE ECW Stars You Totally Don't Remember

8. Ricky Ortiz

Professional wrestling has been a fall-back option for aspiring football players who fail to make the NFL grade for at least the last 30 years, during which time the likes of Goldberg, Roman Reigns and, erm, Mojo Rawley have all successfully made the transition to the squared circle.

Not everyone is so lucky, though, and Ricky Ortiz is perhaps a salient case in point. The former line backer spent three years on the WWE books after turning his hand to sports entertainment in 2006, but only one of them was spent on the main roster (well, ECW anyway).

Things got off to an inauspicious start too, when the company appeared to change his name within a week of his debut. He went from Atlas Ortiz to Ricky Ortiz, after someone in the back apparently realised his original moniker might clash with that of Mark Henry's then-manager.

Despite some (relatively) high profile wins on Sci-Fi - including one against former champion Chavo Guerrero, for whatever that's worth - Ortiz found himself surplus to requirements in 2009, getting his marching orders after a brief, and equally fruitless, stint on SmackDown.
